The bright, bold summer days and flavors are here.  No mysteries or longing, everything is in the sun and coming along fast and furious.  Berries, greens, summer squash, even cauliflower and broccoli.  Menus and dinner plans change quickly with what food and what friend is arriving next.  Gone is the rummaging through the larder for ideas...impetus abounds in this season.

We celebrate all we CAN do with this season.  And we remember to invite others to share it with us.  Maine welcome eight million visitors each summer.  Feeding them is a huge part of our hospitality.  Maine isn't what it is without these visitors, this company, guests, family, friends, strangers.  We depend on them, and they depend on us.

Our plants and animals, water and fields, forests and fireflies, each piece a part of our existence here, and we a part of theirs.  When you are bitten by a black fly remember they are not separate from your strawberry or your sweet corn, you are the strawberry, the sweet corn, the black fly. That summer flavor is not separate from their sharp eternal bite.

Enjoy the beauty, the bounty, the bite, and being bitten.
